World Refugee Day messages
From the Second World War until today the number of displacements remains at the highest level, giving an alarming picture of the situation in the world and pointed out failures of the efforts of prevention and resolution of conflicts, human rights development. Currently in the world there are more than 60 million forcibly displaced persons. Only one of a number of global hot spots in the world – the conflict in Syria – has had and continues to have its influence on Armenia.
It has been five years that this conflict continues, and despite the resumed and expanded efforts of the international community there is still no vision for peace. Instead, recent military operations have led to new suffering and casualties among the civilian population in Aleppo. People continue fleeing the conflict zones in Syria despite facing the challenges of entering more stringent protective safe zone and the environment.
NGO partners have reported about 550 needy of the Syrian people who are looking for support from Armenia. As soon as they arrive, UNHCR and its partners are ready to offer humanitarian assistance by providing the initial amount of partial compensation fee of housing.
