Syrian Armenian children in Armenia. What is being done to integrate them?

 

Armenian representation of “Save the Children” organization together with representation of the High Commissioner of the UNHCR organized the “Children’s Leadership” conference on June 7, during which they represented the final results of extracurricular meetings “child for a child” formed within the frame of the program ” integration of children and their families displaced Syria”.

 

Welcoming remarks were made by the UN force Commissioner’s Office Christoph Biervirt,  director of Armenian representation of “Save the Children” organization Arsen Stepanyan, and national  followers of the Armenian Office of the High Commissioner of the UNHCR, artist, singer, Zaruhi Babayan.

 

In particular, “Country Director of “Save the Children” organization Arsen Stepanyan stated that aim of “child for the child” was to create a favorable environment for the integration of displaced Syrian children in society, increase children’s participation and inclusion, and training on children’s rights.”We are working on problems of integration of children and their families displaced due to the war in Syria. “Save the Children” has carried out a number of events devoted to the problems of school age children and this event is one of them. Introducing various mechanisms we try to integrate the Armenian and Syrian-Armenian children and their families, “said Arsen Stepanyan, adding that the program’s goal is to facilitate experience sharing achievements and challenges, promote the establishment, of new contacts, make new kids involved and make sure that all their voices will be heard.
