“The problems of women at labor market are almost the same everywhere”
As is known, this year the topic of the jubilee 60th session of the Commission on the Status of Women held in UN Headquarters / New York / on March 14-24, was “Women’s empowerment and sustainable development goals.” WomenNet.am had conversation with Anahit Asatryan – the participant of the session, chairman of the sectoral union organizations of workers of state institutions,local government and social service.
She took part in the session of the Public Services International/ the world’s largest trade union body/.The 60th session Commission on the Status of Women at ministerial-level was attended by a record number of countries (over 80) and NGOs (4100 representatives of more than 540 structures). General discussion addressed the 140 member states, including Armenia and more than 50 structures.Within parallel sessions about 300 events were organized.
The discussions at the session were aimed at identifying the direct link between women’s advancement and sustainable development agenda. Earlier this year, Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations came into force, aimed at the elimination of poverty by the year 2030, the fight against inequality and injustice, to solve the problem of climate change. The most ambitious goals are elimination of poverty and hunger by 2030, and ensuring welfare and healthy life, inclusive and quality education for all, gender equality.
