“Til it happens to you” – Song from Documentary “The Hunting Ground” in Oscar nomination

On February 28^th annual “Oscar 2016” award ceremony American Academy of the Motion Picture Arts will be held. Lady Gaga’s song “Till it happens to you” is nominated for the category “The best soundtrack” which was written for documentary film “The hunting ground”. This film, by director Kibi Dirk, which is included in the Oscar nominated short list, until now has been recognized as the best by the American film directors. The film addresses the issue of the sexual violence in student dormitories of the best American Universities, referring; in particular, real cases occurred in North Carolina and Harvard Universities of USA.

According to the film authors, 16- 20% of student girls are victims of sexual violence. However, University leadership, guided by the desire to maintain University’s reputation, fails to mention this phenomenon, leaving the perpetrators unpunished.
