Sexual violence: “No means no”
Sexual violence is a common phenomenon in almost every country. With this regards, France is not an exception. Attorney Choralyne Dumesnil conducted a public lecture for students of the Central European University in Budapest. The meeting entitled “No means no” was organized by the NGO “Human RightS Initiative” within the framework of 16-day campaign.
“Sexual violence and rape exist everywhere in France, but many of us still think that it is something which happens only with the other people, we believe that it will not happen with us”, – started her lecture the lecturer.
She mentioned that the acts of violence are taking place in the street, or at home. “When a woman returns home safely, it seems that she may feel secure but sometimes her bed is the most vulnerable place for her. Very often women are subjected to sexual violence by their partner”.
