Unemployed women will get maternity allowance from January 1st. Confirmed

From January 1^st of 2016 unemployed mothers will get non-working mothers allowance. During today’s’ Government session the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan represented RA Government decision “On confirming the procedure of appointment and payment of maternity allowance to unemployed mothers.

The session was moderated by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan who said that by decision to pay maternity allowance from January of 2016, nearly 4 million additional social burdens on the state budget increases.

They told womennet.am that it is not known yet exactly how much money should be given to an unemployed mother. The calculation is not completed yet, it is believed that the basis for the calculation will be minimum wages. The minimum wage is currently set in Atrmenia at 55 thousands AMD.
