PM: No pregnant woman should have losses because of amended law
The Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan addressed the issue of controversial amendments to the law on maternity leave benefits as he chaired the Cabinet session .
The amendments that sparked protests from working women and activists recently envisage cuts of benefits by 20-60 percent depending on beneficiaries’ work experience.
“There are numerous complaints in connection with the law and we should do everything for pregnant women not to suffer. Let’s assume it as a basis. The public should know that the government will not take a step as a result of which pregnant women will have losses,” Abrahamyan emphasized, as quoted by media.
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan announced that a new version of the law will be presented soon.
