80% of preschool-age children do not attend kindergarten
Only 2 out of 10 children (up to 6-year-old) attend kindergarten. According to the data of RA Ministry of Education and Science at present there are 642 state kindergartens involving 55,711 children. There are also 64 private kindergartens; by the way, the majority of them are in Yerevan. Today in our Republic only 21.6% of preschool age children attend kindergarten, and in rural areas – only 10, 5%.
