Film Screening and Discussions: “Made in Dagenham”
On February 26, at 13:00 the Media Center will initiate the screening and discussion of the film entitled “Made in Dagenham” in the big hall of “NGO Center”, Vanadzor (Nzhdeh str. 14, 4th floor).
The speakers of the discussion are:
Sofia Babayan, President, Association of Women with University Education, Vanadzor Branch,
Zara Batoyan, National Alliance of Protection of Rights of Persons with Disabilities,
Alina Poghosyan, sociologist, ethnographer, researcher in the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography.
This British film (2010) dramatises the 1968 Ford sewing machinists strike at the Ford Dagenham plant, where female workers walk out in protest against sexual discrimination, demanding equal pay. The strike is successful and leads to the Equal Pay Act 1970.
