Planet 50/50 by 2030: Government of Armenia commitment statement
Global leaders committed to gender equality and a #Planet 5050 by 2030! The world leaders answered a call by UN Women to step it up for gender equality. From China to Liberia, Brazil to France, here’s a selection of what the heads of state said.
At the high-level “Global Leaders’ Meeting on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment: A Commitment to Action” event on 27 September, over 70 world leaders are expected to make concrete commitments and firm pledges to overcome gender equality gaps. It is a historic and a unique opportunity: for the first time at the UN, commitments to women and girls will be made at the level of Heads of States and Government.
In Government of Armenia commitment statement said.
… Equality between men and women remain among the Armenian Government’s human rights priority and Armenia will continue implementation of the policy aimed at elimination of discrimination and creation of equal conditions for women and men in all spheres of political, economic and social life. Following commitments by Armenia have to be underlined:
– To ensure effective implementation of the Law of the Republic of Armenia on “Equal rights and equal opportunities of women and men”.
– To sign the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.
