Local Elections: Local Elections Who have withdrawn?
On May 30, at 18:00, the deadline for submission of self-withdrawal applications by registered candidates for the heads of the local self-governing bodies and those for the Council of Elders expired.
CEC reports that 3 out of 46 citizens registered as candidates for community headquarters have submitted a self-withdrawal application. We should mention at once that there is no woman among the candidates who withdrew.
Let us recall, that there are two women candidates who are struggling to become community leaders.
It should be reminded that the election of a member of the council of elders will be held in 11 communities. Women will participate in the elections in five of them. There are female candidates in Sorik (2 female candidates), Khnkoyan (2 female candidates), Dvin (one female candidate), Ditak (5 female candidates), and Ghursal (one female candidate). In total, 11 out of 97 candidates are women.
On June 9th local self-government elections will be held in 23 communities of the country, 14 of which are regular, and 9 – snap. In 12 out of mentioned communities elections of community heads will be held, in 8 communities – members of council of elders, and in 3 – elections of the community head and community council members.
