Sofia Kalantaryan. “I want to increase the number of truthful and courageous at the National Assembly” 

68-year-old Sofia Kalantaryan is nominated for the upcoming parliamentary elections as a candidate  included in the rating list of the Congress and the People’s Alliance, at the 9th District in Vanadzor. She is an  English-language specialist, and founder and president of  ” Vanadzor and sister cities”  NGO since 1996. She has always  been engaged in active social and political activities.

• Why do you want to become a member of the Parliament?

I was asked to be nominated by the rating list of the party. I thought if I was asked, that means they need my help. They are a part of my country, and I agree with all the provisions of the program. I have great sympathy … My husband was a leader of the ANC, I have never been a party member. I think somewhere I continue his unfinished work, he would be excited, saying not to refuse. I want to become MP to ensure a child living in our country is  healthy … My field is education, I know everything  from within, from the depths and I know that I can bring my contribution to this field. As a result my active public activity I know social problems well … I want the  number of truthful, brave spirits as well as that of women MPs to be increased at the National Assembly.
