Syrian-Armenian and local women entrepreneurs in expo
Women entrepreneurs from Yerevan and different regions of Armenia as well as Syrian-Armenian women participated in EXPO held on June 10 within the frame of International Women Entrepreneurship Week in Armenia. Recently, a very good tradition has been fromed – they try to involve Syrian-Armenian women in exhibitions, thereby making their products known in the new environment. In this regard, Armenia’s Young Women’s Association was one of the first ones to establish relations with Syrian refugees – women seeking opportunity to find job. Participation of Syrian Armenians in Women Entrepreneurship week held by AYWA. In fact, many of them are beneficiaries of UNHCR program.
Each women entrepreneur participating in expo was sure that such events are a great opportunity to make their products presentable.
Lena Yeranosyan is from Vardenis town of Gegharquniq province. Her pavilion is decorated with colorful kitchen utensils, hangings, tablecloths of “Vardenis kar” LLC.
“We regularly participate in exhibitions; mainly cooperate with foundation “Homeland development initiative”. They are our main customers, help to consume our products in local and foreign markets, – says director of “Vardenis Kar” LLC Lena Yeranosyan.
The author of “Asha handmade”collection Ashkhen Sargsyan has also had an opportunity to exhibit their products in international market. A few months ago, she exhibited her handicrafts, embroadiary aplications and colorful bags in Nice. She hopes that one day her collection will appear alongside world-renowned brands.
Aida Sandsuryan represented elegant embroadiary works of Marash. “Marash embrodiary has always been the Armenian people’s property, I think every family should have one of these beautiful things.
Art and legend organization was noticed for exhibition of souvenirs decorated with rich colors and symbols, crafts/pillows, tablecloths, napkins, little perfume bags. The authors of handmade embroidery were mainly from Lori province whos works are in great demand abroad especially that they are made of natural and precious threads brought from France.
‘Ebricot” LLC. Represented handmade crafts of women with disabilities from 13 to 35 years old who are hopeful that souvenirs, carved backgammon, fridge magnets will have their customers, thus they expressed their gratitude in advance by the following note: “Your small contribution will help to keep my favorite job”.
Sisian’s Women’s resource foundation represented a great variety of embroidered pillows, shoe pottery, stoneware, glasses, and various souvenirs. And the range of elegant and ornate cups are the evidence of bright imagination of designer Rosa Khachikyan.
Visitors of the exhibition had a chance to taste and buy “Armenian honey” of Tsaghkunq” village. Lori tea bouquet represented by Armenia’s Young Women’s Association, captivated the visitors.
The exhibition lasted the whole day until 5 p.m.For many, it was successful both for sale and getting new customers.
