Photo & Painting Contest “Women for Conflict Reconciliation and Peace”

“Society Without Violence” NGO announces a photo/painting contest entitled “Women for conflict reconciliation and peace” in the frames of the project “Armenian and Turkish young women for reconciliation and lasting peace through dialogue and art”.

 

Young women aged above 18, as young photographers, journalists, painters, artists, women’s rights activists or just interested women will be encouraged to take part in the competition by expressing their interpretation of the role of women in conflict reconciliation and peace  through canvas and/or photo camera.

 

All photos will be presented in the Exhibition in Yerevan, where the visitors will vote for the 2 best photos. The professional jury comprising of three members will also evaluate the works presented in the exhibition after thoroughly reviewing all the materials. The final decision will be made based on the results of the both evaluations.

 

The award ceremony will take part in Tbilisi Georgia during a 2-day round table, where they will meet from the winners of the similar contest in Turkey, as well as other women’s rights activists, active women from local communities and other relevant stakeholders.The round table will give a safe space for a dialogue and mutual cooperation for young women from both countries.

 

1. Eligibility:

The contest is open to all females above18 not depending on profession, occupation or any other criteria.

 

2. Application procedures:

All the interested parties are encouraged to send their photos/paintings in digital form together with the completed Application Form to the e-mail wpcarmenia@gmail.com. All entries must be title-named and accompanied with an abstract providing a context for the photo. Up to three works may be submitted per contestant. The contestants are required to send hard-copies of photos/paintings by post to the address RA, Yerevan, Vagharshyan 26, apt. 2.  The works must be submitted by 22 February. Only the contestants who have submitted works both electronically and by post will be considered for the Contest.

 

3. Timeline:

The submission of works launches on 22 January up to February 22, 2014.

The Contest Period consists of following phases:

 

·        Submission Phase                 –           from 22 January to 22 February, 2014

·        Evaluation Phase                    –           from 22 February to 22 March, 2014

·        Winners will be announced   during the exhibition to be organized between 1 April -1 May, 2014

·        Awards Ceremony                  –           July, 2014, Tbilisi, Georgia.

 

4. Prizes:

1st Place – 300 USD

2nd Place – 200 USD

 

Additional Notes:

By submitting their work for the contest, contestants whose works are selectedeither for exhibition or as a winning piece of work grant the organizersthe right to use their works for the purpose of display on the contest related websites, promotional materials for the contest and the round table, and exhibitions before or after the announcement of the winners. The contestants grant the organizers the right to use their name and works for promotion in any media including radio, newspapers, other print publications, television, video, and/or distribution over the internet. Theawarded works may be released to the news stream in any applicable form.
