In which communities are elections expected on December 8th?
The Central Election Commission has released the names of the communities that will hold regular elections on December 8th. Elections are scheduled in 12 communities of Aragatsotn, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Lori, Kotayk, Shirak. In ten communities, there are elections for the village head, and two for the council of elders.
Leaders in all communities are men, so women in local governments have a good chance of changing their statistics.
As for the election of a member of the Council of Elders, the council of the Ddmashen community of Gegharkunik is composed of six members, all of whom are men.
Two of the seven members of the current council of Anushavan village of Shirak province are women – Mane Bayadyan and Rosa Hakobyan.
According to the timetable for the main preparation and conduct of elections, candidates must submit the required documents for registration on November 3-8. Candidates will be registered from November 8-13. The pre-election campaign will start on November 20th and end on December 6th. Registered candidates can withdraw by November 28th.
It should be noted that at the July 30 sitting, the CEC set December 8th, 2019, another day for the 2019 regular elections to be held. According to the CEC Resolution N 26-A of July 17th, 2018, voting dates for the 2019 local government elections were set for February 17th, 2019, and September 29th.
At its extraordinary session on July 9th, the CEC also set the date for the next 2020 local elections. These are March 15th, 2020, June 14th, 2020, and October 18th, 2020.
