The number of women occupying managerial positions in the newly elected parliament reduced
On May 18, at the first session NA 6th convocation started – MPs elected head of the parliament two speakers, fraction leaders and secretaries, heads of standing committees. It should be noted that although the number of women MPs has increased compared with the previous, becoming 18 from 14, but only two of them were elected to the Board. For comparison, the 5th convocation was represented in leadership positions with 5 women.
One woman was elected to the presidency of the NA
Candidate Ara Babloyan was elected as the head of the National Assembly the party’s. For his candidacy voted 88 deputies, 12 were against. 12 voted in favor Edmon Marukyan from “Yelq” running an alternative candidate, and 88 deputies – against.
Vice Presidents of the National Assembly were elected Eduard Sharmazanov, RPA MP Arpine Hovhannisyan and Mikayel Melkumyan from “Tsarukyan” Alliance fraction. For comparison, the previous parliament had two deputy chairmen one of them was a woman, Hermine Naghdalyan.
