Marina Khachatryan: “It is necessary to remove barriers crushin residents of Yerevan from each other
Our interlocutor is Marina Khachatryan running in 5th place in the “purple Earth” party list for the municipal elections. She was born in 1981 in the town of Kajaran, is a neurosurgeon working in “Nairi” MC. She says that becoming a council member, together with all those who love Yerevan she is going to fight for the freedom cleanliness and health of our city.
- Is running for the City Council election your first step in the politics?
I think we all have in our daily lives run certain policy for achieving our goals. I made my first attempt in this regard in 2004, when Iventured to choose neurosurgeon profession, even though almost all neurosurgeons of Armenia went against me, saying that it is not feminine profession. After passing through a very difficult path to success, and I was able to prove that it is a feminine profession. As a result, the other girls followed me and all of them have been accepted as equal and able professionals.
I have not been engaged in any activity in global politics, but our country is now standing in front of a deep abyss that is my duty to serve my country in the political arena. I hope that my example will be contagious for many women.
