A mother, stepfather and grandmother are suspected of beating a 2-year-old child to death

The mother, stepfather and step grandmother are suspected of intentionally causing serious damage to the health of a 2-year-old child and have been arrested. On the occasion of the incident, the RA Investigative Committee issued a statement, according to which the child died from the beating, as a result of a given pill.

Radio Liberty also touched upon the topic, presenting details from the scene about the family suspected of the child’s death.

The family lived in a depressing cabin on the outskirts of Nor Kharberd community of Ararat region. There was a lock on the wooden door, which did not protect from prying eyes or from the cold. The condition of the house showed the difficult social situation of the family living there. Everything was noticeably gathered, everything was in its place. From the rear window the inside of the house was visible, also everything was tidy, without unnecessary things and clutter.

“It is a story about a young woman of about 20 days, which even the community is not aware of, they have just brought it. If it is about a child, the child is not registered in the community, “said the head of Nor Kharberd community Kamo Kakoyan.

According to the mayor, the social services were unaware that there was a small child in the house wwhich did not suggest anything. Only a small bath next to the junk near the house suggested that a small child lived in the house. Even the relatives were not aware of the child. The house did not belong to the family, it was given to them for temporary residence. 6-7 people lived in this hut with an area of 10-15 square meters: the 19-year-old mother of the dead child, the 30-year-old stepfather Razmik, the 41-year-old step grandmother with her daughters.

Only 10 days ago, the Investigative Committee asked the village head about Razmik’s description, what he was for, the village head does not know, he only said that the family trouble was the reason.

According to the Investigative Committee, information was obtained that the child’s bodily injuries may have been caused by his family members. According to preliminary data, they have regularly hit different parts of the baby’s body. On February 6, at around 8:00 pm, the child’s stepfather beat him for not sleeping and crying incessantly, hitting him in the face and head, after which the child felt worse, and on February 7 he died.

The investigation will still find out why the child was beaten, and the forensic medical examination has already confirmed that he died from a severe blow to the head.

The parents had told the police that the child had accidentally taken Grandma’s medicine, 2 pills “Dimedrol”. But according to the information of the police, they first  beat the child, and only then gave him medicine.

A criminal case has been initiated in case of intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm by a group of persons, which negligently caused the death of the victim. The article envisages imprisonment for 5-10 years.
