“The capital city should have a female mayor”
Most likely, many parties will participate in the upcoming municipal elections in Yerevan. As for now, at least two candidates for the Mayor of Yerevan are women. Naira Zohrabyan, head of Prosperous Armenia party list and Zaruhi Postanjyan from Yerkir Tsirani party, will compete for Yerevan Mayor’s post.
Naira Zohrabyan has already stated that she will act under the slogan ” My Yerevan City to Live” and in case of victory she will make the capital green and smart. “It’s my approach as a female candidate – we understand a green city, a clean city, a city without air pollution, “she said.
The PAP is ready even for holding a joint rally, Naira Zohrabyan announces. “One woman mayor candidate Zaruhi Postanjyan is already known. I think my very respected partner, Mrs. Anahit Tarkhanyan is also going to run for a mayor. I would like, for example, that with the three female candidates we would have participated in several campaigns in the same place, on the same day. ”
Meanwhile, Naira Zohrabyan’s nomination caused dissatisfaction among some members of the Prosperous Armenia Party. In particular, MP Gevorg Petrosyan stated that Zohrabyan has nothing to do with the problems of the capital and raises the question, “Will it be wise for me to lead tomorrow a maternity hospital or offer a liturgy at the Mother See?”
“Naira Zohrabyan cannot be a mayor, she does not know any problem of urban significance. She has never made any steps in that direction, “Petrosyan said in his interview with” Liberty “, noting that he is not a candidate at the moment, but there are” people in the party who can do that with great honor “.
Naira Zohrabyan refuses to comment on the misinterpretation of her party colleague, claiming she knows from where and how strikes will follow and she is ready for everything. She says she sees herself as mayor, and thinks she has a real chance to win. “The capital city should finally have a female mayor. Yes, it is possible. We will go with a really strong team and we will present to Yerevan residents a very viable and important program to bring Yerevan out of this situation.”
