Scandal at UN: peacekeepers forced women and girls to sexual services

 

Journalists got a report which is not published yet and says that UN peacekeepers have regularly been exchanging goods for sexual services with those whom they were obliged to help.

Hundreds of women in Liberia, Congo, Southern Sudan and Haiti, being in extreme poverty, have provided sexual services to soldiers and officers. Instead, they received clothes, money and jewelry and mobile phones. During 2008-2013 around 480 sexual offenses were registered. By the way one third of such offenses was done against underage.
