There is no original Nansen passport in the Armenian Genocide Museum
Today there is no original Nansen passport in the Armenian Genocide Museum. Director of the Institute Hayk Demoyan told womennet.am that acquisition of the original Nansen passport is a very expensive pleasure.
“We have only some copies. It is very expensive, but the Museum is willing to pay and get it”, said Hayk Demoyan.
In 2011, on occasion of 15th anniversary of Norwegian explorer, scientist, diplomat and humanist Fridtjof Nansen, the program of events included creation of the database of those in RA and Diaspora having Nansen passport and their heirs (passports and their copies, photos, documents, items related to passports and their owners, books, memories, etc).
The chief of the staff of Diaspora Ministry Firdus Zakaryan told womennet.am that it was the Government’s assignment. The Ministry managed to collect data of some descendants of Nansen passport holders.
“They brought copies of their parents’ passports. None of Nansen passport holders is alive today”, – said Firdus Zakaryan.
According to Firdus Zakaryan the collected data is completely at the disposal of the Government.
