Majority of the Armenian children are poor but happy?
Majority of children in Armenia live in poor families and suffer from the consequences, but in spite of this, about 90 per cent of our children are satisfied with their life and this figure is the highest according to the international standards. Radio Liberty addresses this topic, citing research conducted in 44 countries around the world under the auspices of the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization.
According to the report, more than half of school children in Armenia belong to the low, and 30 percent- to medium and only 13 percent – to high-welfare group. Among the 44 states international scale family welfare Armenia occupies one of the last places behind Albania, Moldova and Ukraine. Especially a considerable part of the health problems of children appear in rural areas of the country, and is the main reason is social one.
The report’s co-author, pediatrician Sergey Sargsyan, say that you cannot read without pain that four percent of surveyed adolescents, and in some places more, speak about going to bed hungry every day. “As a pediatrician I’m excited to state that teenagers (especially who are the basis of the army) and 60% of them living in rural areas and pass recreation nowhere”.
