The new model of care for the elderly being invested in Armenia, is the beginning of a new treatment towards old age

The number of elderly is increasing worldwide to UN estimates. 900 million (2015) to 1.4 billion in 2030. and 2.1 billion in 2050, when it will reach the elderly and children under 15 years old. These trends in the world today is undergoing a change in attitude towards older people. Priorities are becoming such are projects that are not limited only with nursing organization, but also creating other opportunities for use of the development potential of the elderly people, thereby overcoming discrimination and biased attitude of society towards the elderly, the so-called “ageism”.

 

 

This new approach will be implemented in Armenia and the Swiss Red Cross initiated a program of “Community Integrated home care and healthy aging”, which was launched yesterday with the signing of memoranda of understanding with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and Health Ministries. The project is implemented in cooperation with the Swiss and Monaco Red Cross and funded.
