For the first time in the history of the Armenian Armed Forces, a woman was appointed to the highest post

For the first time in the history of the Armed Forces, a woman has been appointed a high-ranking official. Lately, by the order of Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan, lieutenant colonel Gayane Hovhannisyan was appointed as a head of the Military Medical Department of the Armed Forces, replacing Kamavor Khachatryan.

 

“I’m very proud of appointing her to this position. She is the first woman in the history of our Armed Forces who will occupy such a senior position”, – “Vigen Sargsyan told reporters. The minister spoke with great enthusiasm about Gayane Hovhannisyan’s professional skills and work – for many years she headed the Central Military Hospital resuscitation

department, was a military doctor, had gone through a combat path and was a very good organizer. “I am confident that she will be making great achievements in the establishment of a military service,” he said.

 

It should be noted that during the first sitting of the Board of Trustees of the Monte Melkonian Military-College School in Dilijan at the end of August, Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan also admitted that women generally have a great interest in the military case. It is not ruled out that such a college would be created for girls as well.
