International Women’s Day March: “Planet 50-50 by 2030”

On International Women’s Day thousands of residents of New York and leaders and activists of women’s organizations who had arrived to participate in 59^th session of UN Commission on the Status of Women, were marching under the slogan “Planet 50/50”. The March in the name of gender equality started at UN Headquarters and ended in Times Square several hours later. It was participated by UN General Secretary Ban ki Mun and the wife of the mayor of New York Bil de Blazio – black writer Shirley Mackray. Pan ki Mun called to achieve gender equality up to 2030 and to mobilize all the efforts of the planet’s population under the slogan “50/50”.
