Taiwan’s first female President assumed her duties

 

In May, there was oath ceremony of Tayavani first woman president, 59-year-old Cai Inveni, She became president in the presidential elections in January.

 

The newly elected head of state is the president of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party.  After her victory in her speech she said that Taiwan intends to maintain the status quo with China, but Beijing must respect democracy of Taiwan, and the two sides should not be given to provocations.
