Domestic violence victims will receive compensation from the state budget up to 165,000 AMD
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia will open an account with the right of temporary use for temporary financial assistance to victims of domestic violence. The respective draft resolution was posted on the March 16, 2011 joint publication of draft legal acts on the single e-draft website. https://www.e-draft.am/projects/806.
The bill defines the main principles of providing financial assistance to domestic violence victims, cases and extent of financial support, as well as regulates temporary financial support for the family of victims of domestic violence and the provision of temporary financial assistance to victims of domestic violence.
Particularly, the project provides financial assistance to a person subjected to domestic violence at a rate not exceeding three times the minimum monthly wage, ie at a maximum of 165,000 AMD.
Assistance is provided for partial compensation for the minimum livelihood needs, treatment or rehabilitation, for compensation of up to six months’ housing rental lease, as well as compensation for reimbursement training for employment. Financial assistance is provided from the RA state budget funds, donations from individuals and legal entities and from other sources not prohibited by law.
Suggestions on the draft can be submitted by stakeholders and organizations until April 3.
It should be noted that at the beginning of March, the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs put another project on domestic violence in the e-draft for discussion. The government expects that the adoption of the draft law will create a set of recommendations for the prevention of domestic violence, the state policy implemented in the field, support for victims of domestic violence, protection mechanisms, family restoration mechanisms, public awareness campaigns, and specific urgent issues.
