When a child is exposed to violence and the perpetrator is not punished
Coordinator of Children’s protection program of UN Children’s Fund Hasmik Araqelyan notes that we do not have a comprehensive national strategy with mechanisms to identify, prevent and direct all forms of violence against children. As a family is a closed system, the violence remains unsolved. There are public stereotypes, very often beating, abuse are not considered as forms of violence, they are considered as means of education.
In addition violence can be everywhere – at school, at home. The forms of psychological abuse are when a child is neglected, does not get proper attention and her/his opinion is not taken into accout.
It should be mentioned that according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which Armenia joined in 1992, the state is committed to protect children from all forms of violence, insult, abuse, lack of care and attention by parents or any other people.
