Artemizia. Renaissance painter / film

 

Italian painter Artemizia Jentileskin was the first art academy member in Europe, the first female member of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.

 

Artemizia Jentileski’s father, Horace Jentileskin, was a painter of the Caravaggio’s school. His mother had died when she was twelve years old. Artemiziayin was disgraced in 1612 by the Florentine artist Agostino working in with his father, seven months after the trial he was found guilty and sentenced to one year imprisonment. Her emotional distress, reflected in her famous “Hudite cutting the head of Hoghopernes ” (1612-1613) painting. She referred to this story more than once. Such recurring characters are Shebayi, Queen Lucretia and Cleopatra.

 

In 1997, French director Agnès Marilyn shoot the movie “Artemizia” (starring Valentina Cherven). In 1998, the French novelist Alexandra Lapyere wrote a novel about the artist.
