First women parliamentarians of the first Republic
They were the first one – Armenian women dedicated to national liberation movement… In 1918 in most European countries women had no right to vote. But in Armenia as a result of parliamentary elections in 1919 3 out of 80 members of the Parliament were women. It is difficult to explain how it happened that almost a century later there are only 14 women in our Parliament and that is only due to quota. And that is when the world is now ahead, and in most European countries the number of women in Parliaments approaches to 1/3.
