Erdogan’s statement on “Incomplete women” raised protest in Turkey

 

Protests were held in Istanbul and Ankara after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s offensive statements made against the women. During the meeting with the association”Women and democracy” he said that a women  who rejects motherhood,  is not a complete woman, BBC reports.

 

According to Erdogan, a woman refusing  maternity refusing,  puts at risk the existence of mankind. “The woman, who declares:” I will not be a mother because I work”  actually becomes an incomplete person abandoning her femininity”, – Erdogan said. According to him, refusing maternity and homework a woman becomes incomplete person, no matter how much she is successful in career.

 

Erdogan’s remarks have caused a wave of indignation. In particular, protests were held in Istanbul and Ankara, with the slogan addressed to the President, “A woman is a woman, she is “incomplete” just in your head”.

 

A number of experts have criticized Erdogan also for the fact that in his speech he said that a woman must have at least 3 children. According to them, there is no religious doctrine, which says how many children a woman must have. Let’s note that earlier Erdogan stated that family planning and protection are not in accordance with Muslim families.
