Women, Peace and Security: lessons of Resolution 1325

 

“The UN has adopted numerous resolutions on women and security but 1325 was the first one and was adopted 15 years ago. It is not only hope for women but also a tool and although this tool is not so sharp yet, we want it to become a mechanism whereby we can really work. Three principle of resolution: prevention, protection and participation should ensure both women’s security and participation in all spheres of public life, especially in political processes», – such an opinion was expressed by the president of association “Agreement” at regional conference “Women’s role in prevention, peace and security” recently held in Yerevan. She has started to deal with peace-building issues since Abkhaz conflict. She is, in fact, a member expert group of global research on implementation of 1325 Resolution.
