The number of beggar children has increased in Armenia
June 1th is the International Children’s Day. On the occassion of the Day the experts talk on children’s issues.
In the first four months of this year, the growth in child beggars has been observed. Head of the main Police Criminal Investigation 3rd Department Nelli Durian said that begging children were engaged in childcare facilities and attending school. They were begging after school hours.
“Police interdepartmental working group was established, the issue was discussed jointly with the municipality, complex work was carried out and today we have almost indicator,” she says. According to him, begging for more cases is rare in regions. In Vayots Dzor, for example, they are not met, with sporadic recorded in Lori and Shirak regions.
