There are at least four officially confirmed Armenian women in captivity.  Ombudsman of the Republic of Artsakh

“The Armenian side has three types of captives –  Captives who have been officially confirmed by Azerbaijan, captives who are definitely in Azerbaijani prisons, there is evidence, but Azerbaijan has not confirmed it and those who are under the control of the enemy, but the Armenian side does not have certain information about where they are, but it is clear that these people are either under the control of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry or in an Azerbaijani prison.” Artsakh ombudsman Artak Beglaryan spoke about it today. Panorama.am presents details from the press conference.

“Most of the first type of prisoners have been returned, all civilians have been returned, there are several prisoners of war who were on the officially approved list, but have not been returned yet!” I do not want to mention the number, but there are some of those people. There are various videos, evidences and testimonies of the returned captives about the second type of captives. We have submitted videos to both the ICRC and the Russian side. “But the Azerbaijani side persistently does not accept the fact of captivity of those people,” Artak Beglaryan said at today’s press conference.

At the same time, he mentioned that there were missing people who were either killed or in captivity.

According to Artak Beglaryan, the Armenian side has information that there are prisoners of war in different circles of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, up to the innermost circle. “If something happens to them, the Azerbaijani state will be responsible. Unfortunately, we have information that prisoners, including civilians, have been killed. We have recorded how civilians are beheaded. ”

As for the women in captivity, the Artsakh Human Rights Defender noted that there are at least four officially confirmed Armenian women in captivity.

“But that number is not four, it is bigger. I think more than four women have already returned from captivity. “But there were more women in captivity, some of them confirmed by videos and testimonies, and others, we suspect that they are in captivity, that is, those women are missing,” he said.

The ombudsman of Artsakh also informed that in the near future not 60, but many more prisoners should return to Armenia, if the issue of 62 prisoners of war taken from Khtsaberd is taken into account.

“Besides, there are dozens of captives proven by videos, both prisoners of war and civilians. “Those people must be returned without any preconditions,” he said.
