Bride kidnapping in Kazakhstan

In a social network, a video was released where a young girl was forced to wear a headscarf. The incident occurred in Kazakhstan. According to an old tradition in Kazakhstan, if they put on a headscarf on young girl’s head, it means that she is obliged to marry. The video shows that they try to persuade her but she resists and screams. Finally, people around her manage to throw the scarf over her head after which she no longer resists and only cries. There is no way back, and if she refuses marriage, no one will marry her any more. In fact, it is about a revival of a tradition of abducting brides. That is true of those bridegrooms who do not have possibility to pay “kalim”. There are cases when it happens because of a prior arrangement of parents of bride and bridegroom.
